| Qualifications: | Applicants should have at least a Bachelors degree (Master’s degree preferred) in mathematics or a closely related field and 8 years of mathematics college teaching experience, including at the precalculus and calculus level, ability to supervise a complex organization, ability to relate well and supervise diverse groups of people, ability to create and manage schedules, and ability to work with computer systems and data. Management experience is preferred. |
| Examples of Duties: | The Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for a director of its Mathematics Success Center, to begin in the academic year 2010-2011. The department has 26 tenure-track faculty and 11 non-tenure track faculty members, and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees.
The Mathematics Success Center, a component of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, is responsible for tutoring and testing services in mathematics and statistics. The duties of the Director include, but are not limited to, managing the tutoring and testing center, hiring, scheduling, and training tutors, managing the tutor budget, assisting faculty in the ongoing maintenance and development of curriculum and pedagogy for the department’s three precalculus courses, supervising MSC staff, advising students, and teaching one course per semester. |
