Position Title: Program Specialist, Small Business Development Ctr(SBDC) Req#2007007401

Salary: Contingent upon funding. $25,608.77 to $38,413.27
Special Conditions: Title- Program Specialist, Small Business Development Center (SBDC), NMSU-Alamogordo Campus. This 12-month exempt position will report to the NMSU-A SBDC Coordinator.
Effective Date- as soon as possible
Qualifications: Qualifications Required-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management. Significant emphasis on accounting or finance preferred.
One year related work experience required; entrepreneurial focus preferred.

Qualifications-
Knowledge of the characteristics, prerequisites of business loan proposals;
Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of small business operations;
Knowledge of federal and state financial and tax regulations pertaining to small businesses;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and diverse community; and
Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Ability to use financial analysis software and interpret results; and
Ability to communicate conceptually complex information to clients of varying background; bi-lingual strongly preferred.
Examples of Duties: Advise clients of the NMSU-A Small Business Development Center who are either currently in business or who are considering establishing a business by providing one-on-one counseling and information resources/referrals to other training opportunities and other sources of specific information. Assist clients in developing realistic options for business goals, loan proposals and business plans; design, coordinate, and present SBDC training and outreach programs and maintain accurate activity records. Monitor operational activities and effectiveness of results and prepare reports to NMSU-A SBDC Coordinator. Assist with community economic development efforts within the Center’s service area and maintain contacts with other business assistance resources and governmental agencies within as well as outside the Center’s service area. Perform other related duties as assigned by the NMSU-A SBDC Coordinator.
