Career Services invites applications for the position of Coordinator, Cooperative Education/Internship Program. NMSU enjoys a national reputation for its Cooperative Education component and ranks first in New Mexico for participation among four-year, degree-granting institutions.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) and have at least two years of experience in career services, work-integrated learning, student personnel/advising, human resources, or other related field. The individual must be capable of managing the day-to-day operation of an automated candidate tracking system. He/She must demonstrate enthusiasm and high energy level and must be able to work with the diverse publics served by the program. The Coordinator must possess effective written, oral, and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong commitment to quality customer service.
Examples of Duties: The Coordinator, Cooperative Education/Internship Program reports directly to the Assistant Director and is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operation of the Program. He/She will promote work-integrated learning as a vital career development strategy and will perform a variety of specific functions including, but not limited to the following-

o Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff.
o Advise candidates regarding work-integrated learning opportunities and assist in identifying appropriate employers.
o Make regular contact with existing employers to foster positive working relationships.
o Conduct orientation sessions on services available and for students transitioning to their work phase assignments.
o Communicate with members of the University Community regarding opportunities available through the Program.
o Serve as a member of the administrative team by providing input for long-range planning, goal setting, and program evaluation and modification.
o Prepare reports on areas of administrative responsibilities.
o Help prepare brochures and other electronic information to publicize the Cooperative Education /Internship Program.
o Perform related duties as assigned.
