| Qualifications: | Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Journalism, or related field, and 1 year of experience, preferably in sports media relations.
Other qualifications include- • Knowledge of university and department policies and procedures; principles and practices of organization and administration; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation. • Skills in short and long-range planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; public contact and relations; and oral and written communication; computer and media-related software; writing and editing. • Ability to direct, evaluate, train, and supervise the work of assigned personnel; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities; analyze and evaluate information. • An understanding of and adherence to rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Western Athletic Conference, and New Mexico State University. |
| Examples of Duties: | Assist the Director of Media Relations in the day-to-day operations of the NMSU Athletics Media Relations office; supervise, direct, delegate, and evaluate work of assigned staff; produce game notes, media guides, programs and releases; game day management; media consumer service; and update sport-specific website. Main media contact for Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Tennis and secondary Football. Promote NMSU’s sports programs, the Athletics Department and New Mexico State University through public relations activities and will require travel. |
