Qualifications: A minimum of a Master’s Degree in biological science, physical science, or related field and five (5) years experience required. Extensive experience in electron microscopy preferred. Demonstrated ability to interact with a wide variety of faculty, researchers, students, and visitors. Preferred is knowledge of Hitachi microscopes, EDS detectors, software for computer operation of microscopes, electronics, vacuum and chilling systems. Experience teaching electron microscopy and supervisory experience preferred.
Examples of Duties: The director will manage a facility containing numerous advanced analytical instruments, including state-of-the-art transmission and scanning electron microscopes and a wide variety of ancillary equipment for biological and physical electron microscopy. Monitor activities related to equipment use, assisting and instructing users as needed. Schedule requests for facility access for researchers, students, and guest users. Help develop policies and procedures for the facility. Perform routine maintenance and oversee maintenance of all facility equipment. Serve as safety officer for the facility.
