Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
• One year of direct experience.

Knowledge of- University and Department policies and procedures; local, state, national, and international events; radio and television news reporting, anchoring, and producing; professional field and studio recording techniques; principles and practices of organization and administration; University environment; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

Skill in- Short- and long-range planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation; public contact and relations; research methods; teaching.

Ability to- Direct, evaluate, train, and supervise the work of assigned personnel; communicate effectively in written and oral form; edit copy; edit digital audio & video media; troubleshoot broadcast equipment; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct several activities; analyze and evaluate information.
Examples of Duties: • Serves as a part of the NMSU (KRWG) public broadcasting organization.
• Supervises, directs, delegates and evaluates the work of assigned FM staff with guidance from the Assistant Executive Director of Content.
• Plans, implements and evaluates local FM news related program material.
• Lead daily local news operations, assignments, editing, and presentation of local newscasts.
• Coordinates activities with FM, web sites, TV public affairs, development and promotions.
• Uses video equipment to independently produce and edit a daily news report for radio, television, and web for trans-media distribution.
• Participates in KRWG organization activities and fund raisers.
• Supervises newsroom operation, procedures, future files, and supplies.
• Reports, produces, and/or hosts stories, regular and special news and public affair programs including some television.
• Helps develop, implement and evaluate local news programming policy, procedures and format.
• Maintains records to document program activities for public file and other reports.
• Supervises and mentors news students.
• Performs related duties as required.
