- Every participant must read, understand and complete the Release of Liability prior to entering
the climbing wall area.
- Only participants who have successfully completed a belay test are allowed to belay other
climbers. A certification course is offered for beginners to learn the skills needed to pass
the belay test. Experienced climbers may pass the belay test during open climbing hours.
- Before every climb, participants are required to check their and their belayer’s equipment to
ensure proper use and set up.
- Participants must use the posted belay commands.
- Climbers must demonstrate competence using a figure eight follow through and must be on
belay at all times, except when bouldering.
- Climbing off route is restricted in order to prevent dangerous pendulum swing in the event of
a fall.
- Climbing above or unclipping the top rope anchors is strictly prohibited.
- Belayers must demonstrate competence using a harness, locking carabineer and a belay device
at all times.
- The use of floor anchors is recommended to prevent belayers from leaving the ground. Off
weight belay teams are required to use floor anchors.
- When Bouldering, no body part is allowed above the painter mountains.
- Pads must be placed as to protect the climber from landing on the floor.
- One spotter is required when bouldering in an inverted body position. Two spotters are recommended.
- All accidents, damaged equipment, loose holds or safety concerns must be reported to staff
immediately.
- Do not stand on, hang on, or climb on ropes, or floor anchors.
- No food, drink, or chewing gum is allowed in the climbing wall area.
- Shoes, shirts, shorts or parts must be worn at all times when in the climbing wall area.
- It is recommended that you remove all jewelry and tuck in loose clothing before climbing.
Any climber may be asked by climbing wall staff to adjust, alter, or discontinue any activity
or behavior judged to be inappropriate, disruptive, or hazardous.
- Additional Rules and Policies will be posted and enforced as needed.
