Policies
Alcohol and other drugs
Consumption and/or possession of any non-prescription drug, including alcohol,
are strictly prohibited for all OAP participants and staff members. Noncompliance
will result in immediate action.
Forms
The completion of the following forms is mandatory for all OAP trips. 1. Informed
consent/assumption of risk form 2. Medical information form
Trip Meetings
All trip meetings are mandatory. If you are unable to attend
please make arrangements to meet with the trip leader can by contacting the
Outdoor Adventure Center at 505-646-4252.
Cancellation
The Outdoor Adventure Program reserves the right to cancel any trip. If the
Outdoor Adventure Program cancels any trip the participants will receive a full
refund. The participants have two weeks prior to the trip to cancel and receive
full refund minus deposit or price of trip for processing fee.
Gear
The Outdoor Adventure Program provides equipment to little or no cost. Participants
should bring appropriate gear. If the minimum gear required is not met (as decided
by trip leader), a trip leader can refuse to take them on the trip. If people
don't have the right gear it is not only a safety issue for them, but it can
also negatively affect everyone experience.
Group Size
Group size is limited and varies on trip. Sign up and pay $10 deposit as soon
as possible in the Outdoor Adventure Center, Activity Center room, 101, on the
Resource Center Bulletin Board.
Late Departures
Participants should call trip leader, Ben Gabriel, or Outdoor Adventure Center
no later than 15 minutes prior to departure if they are going to be late. If
no one is contacted and participants is more than 15 minutes late, the group
will leave them and no refunds will be made.
Skills
Skills needed for each activity varies. Activities can be physically demanding
and proper preparation can be important. Please talk with the trip leader if
you have any questions regarding specific skills for each trip.
Driving
Participants are not permitted to drive to an activity without permission from
the Trip Leader.
Food
Food is not provided unless stated in trip itinerary.
Pre-trip meetings
All pre-trip meetings are mandatory. If a participant is unable to attend the
meeting because of a valid schedule conflict s/he may set up an alternate time
to talk with one of the trip leaders at least one day before the trip is set
to leave. If s/he fails to do so, then s/he is not allowed to go on the trip.
Animals
There is a no pet policy unless they are working animals (i.e. seeing eye
dog)
Parking
A parking permit, or temporary pass is required to have access to the Activity
Center. Temporary passes are available at the safety office located at the NMSU
Police Department.
