A good idea is to use the contact information before traveling in case of unforeseen changes. This calendar is updated annually as information is received. Key: Full Weekend means Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Weekend means Saturday and Sunday. All other days or dates are marked accordingly.

Rural Tourism Conference

The purpose of the REDTT annual meeting is to provide education, information and networking opportunities to tourism professionals and volunteers. This two day event includes: FAM tours of the area in which the meeting is being held; workshops on tourism issues including, but not limited to, tracks in agritourism, technology, business, arts, historical preservation and more; keynote speakers; food; and fun!!!     • Trinity Site Tours
      A National Historic Landmark, the Trinity site is open to the public on the first Saturday's of April and October. The 51,500-acre "atomic bomb" testing landmark includes base camp, ground zero and the McDonald ranch house, where the plutonium core to the bomb was assembled. Visit these sites and a part of the original crater left by the explosion, revealing Trinitite, a greenish-colored glassy substance formed by the heat and pressure of the explosion. If you don't feel like caravaning in your own vehicle, inquire about getting in on a comfort ride in an air conditioned motor coach or van.

    • Rockhound Easter Egg Hunt
      The Friends of Rockhound State Park invite you to attend the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Bring your own baskets for a fun time. Hunt times: 10-11am for ages 0-4 and 11–noon for ages 5 –11. Get your picture taken with the Rockhound Easter Bunny. Sponsored by First New Mexico Bank. Held the Saturday before Easter Sunday, but in case of bad weather, the event will be held the next Saturday. Free admission.       An annual program to celebrate the return of spring. Wildflower and butterfly walks; native garden tours; huge native plant sale. The Deming Garden Club will be there, along with the Master Gardeners, providing water-wise gardening tips. National Wildlife Federation will provide information about gardening for butterflies. With a grant from Keep New Mexico Beautiful, Inc., a new booklet has been created about the plants in the Native Garden.
