- Tour of the Nations
Tour of the Nations is
a 5-day recreational and educational bike ride that winds its
participants through three of New Mexicos Native American
Pueblos and two national monuments, stay as guests in several
current day Pueblos, will be treated to a tour, traditional meal,
and traditional performance at the Pueblos, and finish the ride
in Gallup, New Mexico, where the participants receive tickets
to the 86th annual Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. The
Inter-Tribal Ceremonial is a renowned powwow which attracts Native
American participants from across the US, and parts of Canada

Sadie Orchard Day honors Sierra County pioneer Sadie Orchard
and the spirit of the early pioneers that settled the area. Sadie
was a madam, hotel operator, stage coach owner and driver, business
woman, nurse to the sick, benefactor to many, and quite a colorful
character. The afternoon begins at Geronimo
Springs Museum with a melodramatic memorial service to Sadie,
a procession to her grave site in Hot Springs Cemetery, and continues
in the park with live music and games, including the bed race,
chamber pot relay, and watermelon seed spitting contest. Lots
