Education and Training

Administered by New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service, the Rural Economic Development Through Tourism (REDTT) project offers education and training in many areas concerned with tourism and economic development. These workshops are offered at minimum expense to the general public, but are geared especially to those business concerned with the hospitality services. Our committment is to assist, educate and train communities on initiatives designed to create tourism growth. We believe the types of workshops we offer can do just that.

Please contact the REDTT director to learn more about setting up the following educational opportunities. Our toll free number is (866) 648-5017 or e-mail redtt@nmsu.edu.

  • "Catch Our Enchanted Spirit!" - a hospitality training program for those who have contact with tourists on a one to one basis, teaching them to do a better job of informing visitors about local attractions, encouraging longer visits and ultimately spending more money in the community.
  • "Rockin' with REDTT" - a customer service training program.
  • "Creating a Culture of Enchantment" - a workshop geared to teaching you how to keep your customers coming back.
  • "Training the Hospitality Trainer" - Tips and techniques for effective training.
  • E-Commerce
  • Special Event and Festival Development
  • Rural Tourism Development and Marketing
