Apostilles

The Registrar's Office offers Apostilles for official transcripts, diplomas, and enrollment verifications. An Apostille confirms that the document is authentic (or apostilled). Apostilles are most often needed by students who are working outside the U.S. and international students.

When we receive your request, the Registrar's Office will print the requested document(s), procure the signature of the Registrar and notarize it. The document(s), notary statement, Apostille information, and your $3.00 check/money order will be mailed first class to the New Mexico Secretary of State's Office.

The Apostille process does take some time, both to produce the original document and for the Secretary of State to add the Apostille. In addition to mailing time, please allow two to three weeks for your Apostille to be processed.

Official Transcripts

Note: Both current and former students can apply for Apostilles for official transcripts.

  1. To request an Apostille for an official transcript, include the following information:
    • A note that this transcript order is for an Apostille. Please make the Apostille note very clear!
    • Your name and any former names
    • NMSU ID number or Social Security number
    • Date of birth
    • Your daytime telephone number (in case we have questions)
    • Country of destination
    • Number of transcripts you want authenticated
    • Address to send the Apostille and transcript after it has been authenticated by the Secretary of State. The student is responsible for providing and accurate mailing address to ensure the documents will reach the destination in a timely manner.
    • Your signature
  2. The cost for a notarized transcript is $15 each. Make the check or money order payable to New Mexico State University.
  3. The cost of an Apostille is $3 each. Make the check or money order payable to the New Mexico Secretary of State.
  4. The Apostille and accompanying documents will be sent to the address you specify by USPS First Class Mail. If you want delivery other than USPS First Class Mail, you must enclose a pre-addressed, pre-paid air bill with your request.
  5. Mail the request and the two checks/money orders to:

Diploma

Note: Both current and former students can apply for Apostilles for diplomas.

  1. To request an Apostille for your diploma(s), fill out the Duplicate Diploma form at http://nmsu.edu/~registra/duplicate.html. Be sure to print out the form.
  2. Include a note that the duplicate diploma is for an Apostille. Please make the Apostille note very clear!
  3. The cost for a notarized diploma is $15 each. Make the check or money order payable to New Mexico State University.
  4. The cost of an Apostille is $3 each. Make the check or money order payable to the New Mexico Secretary of State.
  5. The Apostille and accompanying documents will be sent to the address you specify* by USPS First Class Mail. If you want delivery other than USPS First Class Mail, you must enclose a pre-addressed, pre-paid air bill with your request.
  6. Mail the Duplicate Diploma form and the two checks/money order to:

Enrollment Verification

Note: Only current students can apply for Apostilles for Enrollment Verifications. Former students should order official transcripts.

  1. To request an Apostille for an enrollment verification, include the following information:
    • A note that this enrollment verification is for an Apostille. Please make the Apostille note very clear!
    • Your name
    • NMSU ID number
    • Your daytime telephone number (in case we have questions)
    • The semester and year you expect to graduate
    • The semester(s) you want verified
    • Country of destination
    • Address to send the Apostille and enrollment verification after it has been authenticated by the New Mexico Secretary of State. The student is responsible for providing and accurate mailing address to ensure the documents will reach the destination in a timely manner.
    • Your signature
  2. The cost for a notarized enrollment verification is $10 each. Make the check or money order payable to New Mexico State University.
  3. The cost of an Apostille is $3 each. Make the check or money order payable to the Secretary of State.
  4. The Apostille and accompanying documents will be sent to the address you specify by USPS First Class Mail. If you want delivery other than USPS First Class Mail, you must enclose a pre-addressed, pre-paid air bill with your request.
