Richard Long received a memorandum, from Kevin Boberg, that states the Business College will provide assistance implementing the Safety Training Survey.  Boberg suggested a telephone survey and taking a representative sample of the population.  Katrina Doolittle stated that the survey is to provide information and should be a training tool.  Leticia Rodriquez suggested incorporating the survey on the Internet.

Richard Long composed a memorandum regarding the Safety Training Survey, this is to be signed by Safety Committee Members and sent to Dr. Gary Cunningham.

Katrina notified the committee that there are no requirements on the number of times the committee must meet.  Leticia Rodriquez made a motion to change the Safety Committee meetings from monthly to bimonthly (every two months).  Chevo seconded the motion.

Katrina stated that Jeff Arterburn was approved by Vice President Gary Cunningham as the new chemistry member on the Safety Committee.  Chevo suggested the committee promote safety through a “safety day” with vendors present.  Linda Perez suggested having a safety newsletter.

Katrina briefly stated that some high school band members experienced heat exhaustion during the Battle of the Bands contest held on NMSU campus.  She composed a memorandum addressed to the Music Department expressing concerns for heat exposure hazards to participants.

There being no further business, Richard Long adjourned the meeting at 4:40 p.m.  The next University Safety Committee meeting will be December 16, 1998.

Respectfully Submitted,
