The monthly meeting of the Safety Committee
was called to order at 3:35 p.m. by Chair, Richard Long.
Richard Long, Linda Perez, Leticia Rodriguez, Robert Rhodes, Mike Abernathy, Jaime
Marrujo, Eusebio Chavira, Katrina Doolittle, Jeff Arterburn, and Paul LaPorte.
Katrina informed the
committee that the safety survey will be set aside until the Safety Office
of filling a half time trainer position. Part of the duties of this new
position is to head up the safety survey sub committee.
Katrina Doolittle and Mike
Abernathy will work on a memo to clarify the proper procedures on reporting
student accidents, which will include standardize and minimum criteria. At
this point most departments have their own forms for documenting accidents
that happen in their building, department or classroom. Katrina and Mike will
work on some kind of standard form from Risk Management.
Paul LaPorte informed the
committee that he has prohibited persons from flying small motor
helicopters/planes in the field behind the Activity Center. Katrina stated the
city has a designated are for flying planes any ways.
There being no further
business, Richard Long adjourned the meeting at 4:20 p.m.
The next University Safety Committee meeting will be April 21, 1999
