OSHA VISIT AND TRAINING SESSION

COMPLIANCE AND INSPECTIONS - As a business NMSU must comply with many federal, state, and local regulations.
Supervisors, administrators and faculty should be aware that under the University Environmental Health and Safety Policy (published in the AP&P Manual and posted on the NMSU safety website) they should immediately notify Environmental Health & Safety (Safety Office) at 646-3327:

  1. if, or when, they become aware of a violation of any university, state or federal environmental health or occupational safety rule or regulation,

    2. or
  2. if they are contacted by any state or federal regulatory agency requesting access for an inspection.


OSHA TRAINING - New Mexico Occupational Safety and Health Bureau (New Mexico OSHA) will be on the campus, July 12, 2001, to provide a short training session for employees and departments engaged in material handling, metal fabrication and machining.

  1. The presentation is designed to provide information on Compliance Inspection Procedures, Health and Safety Programs, Material Handling, and Machine Guarding.  The class will include a question and answer period for specific questions.

  2. The free OSHA class will be given in room 102 at Genesis Research Center - Unit B, 4200 Research Drive on Thursday July 12 (8:00 am to noon).

  3. Please register online via the training section at www.nmsu.edu/~safety  (RSVP by July 5, 2001).

  4. The safety website provides a map showing the location of the training facility as well as information on the regulatory and safety classes provided by EH&S.
