Safety in Biological Research Symposium

November 30, 9:00 am - Noon

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

NMSU Environmental Health & Safety is sponsoring a symposium on safety in biological research. This symposium will
highlight issues related to laboratory research involving potentially infectious, pathogenic or toxic agents. All researchers,
administrators, employees, students and public are invited.

Guest speaker Dr. Robert Ellis, Professor and University Biosafety Officer for Colorado State University will provide risk management strategies that have proven effective in a university environment. He will also provide information on infectious waste management and operation of primary containment devices. The symposium will discuss select agents and current regulatory challenges of biological research.
