Subject: Construction impact on Frenger Mall

In the vicinity of Foster Hall and associated construction, pedestrian walkways may be temporarily constricted for safety reasons. Facilities Planning and Construction staff work closely with the contractor to keep this area as free of obstruction as possible, however, the safety of our students, faculty, staff and guests is priority. There are some inconveniences associated with any major construction effort that is central to campus activities.

The single pathway will be expanded when the structural steel erection and associated overhead work is accomplished. Dangers associated with lifting of overhead steel beams requires an additional safety perimeter which is impacting the mall. When the steel erection is complete, the contractor will return the mall back to the campus community for use until the end of the school year. During the summer, the contractor may need to occasionally re-occupy the mall area while exterior finish systems are being completed. By fall semester this phase of the project will be finished and the mall will be returned to its original condition.

Please do not hesitate to contact Environmental Health & Safety directly at 646-3327 if you have further concerns.
