- Doolittle reported
receipt of half the CoOP’s from Departments on CDPC and asked members if there
were any suggestions on changes to the template. There
were none.
- L. McKee stated that
N-95 masks would be required for entry into high-risk areas and for high-risk
activities such as patient care and food preparation where providers could
come into contact with ill persons.
- K. Doolittle stated
that EH&S cost for consumables was based on minimum staffing of 2
persons for medical waste pick up, 2 persons for emergency
management and 1 to provide respirator fit testing. L.
McKee asked that Katrina send out the algorithm she generated for calculating
the costs associated with maintaining consumable inventory.
- L. McKee stated that
the Financial workgroup will need this information to establish a cost
estimate for funding allocation for consumable supplies.
- T. Bergin reviewed
mitigation strategies for ICT and described an overall disaster recovery plan
that is extensive and that recovery plans are routinely tested.
She mentioned reciprocity between NMSU and UNM, off site data back-ups,
off-site storage of their disaster recovery binder and other copies of the
plan, and noted that data recovery will not be immediate and a delay is
likely.
- K. Doolittle noted
that Nursing Dept mitigation strategy includes offering mental health
counseling, if needed.
- L. McKee noted that
the on-line medical reserve sign-up is active so volunteers can enter their
contact data. She will distribute the web link.
- D. Smith noted that
personnel working at home will reduce the number of persons on campus during
an outbreak.
- T. Brobeck submitted
both CoOP and an updated Emergency Action plan for Speech & Hearing and stated
importance of integrating both plans.
- L. McKee expects
that NMSU will need to lend assistance to the community and plans
for doing so are in-process. She said the state has
agreed to underwrite the purchase of a back-up generator and pandemic supplies
for UHS/SHS. NMSU will release supplies as needed and good
record keeping is essential for obtaining reimbursement of expenditures.
- K. Doolittle stated
that the EH&S CoOP states that earned time off or compensatory time will be
granted to salaried personnel that are essential. L.
McKee noted that overtime is a bargaining issue for unionized personnel.
- J. Gamon distributed
information on cleaning restrooms.
- L. McKee noted that
the NCAA accreditation visit next year is likely to focus on preparedness and
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.
- K. Doolittle intends
to update the Administrative Council in September on COOP progress and
emergency response planning efforts in general. All
Departments on the CDPC need to have a CoOP before that date.
- K. Doolittle
reported that $10,000.00 has been allocated to purchase emergency preparedness
related software and asked for recommendations on such products.
L. McKee recommended contacting T. Townsend to learn what the
city/county planners are using.
- July 31st
was established as the deadline to submit electronic copies of COOPs to K.
Doolittle.
- K. Doolittle said
working groups need to begin meeting.
- The next CDPC meeting will be September 11, 2007
at 3:00 PM, there will be no meeting in August.
The meeting adjourned at 3:53PM.
