Health Alert: California company recalls frozen beef tamales (issued Nov. 8, 2007)

Circle Foods, LLC., a Chula Vista, Calif., company, is voluntarily recalling approximately 3,750 pounds of frozen beef tamales that may contain pieces of metal. This was reported on November 8, 2007 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The following products are subject to recall:
- Cartons of 10 individually wrapped 5-ounce tamales “Tortilla land BEEF TAMALES, Traditional Corn Husk Wrap, All Natural.” Carton marked with establishment number “EST. 17417″ inside the USDA mark of inspection as well as a “use by” date of “110308.”
The problem was discovered by Circle Foods when their equipment detected pieces of metal in the product. No injuries have been reported at this time. Anyone concerned about an injury from consumption of the products should contact a physician.
