Double B Foods, a Texas, firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 98,000 pounds of frozen sausage roll products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced November 15, 2007
The sausage roll products are being recalled because of concerns that they are potentially contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, which can cause listeriosis, a rare but potentially fatal disease.
The products were produced on various dates between October 25th and November 6th. The company found the potential problem during an in-plant testing program. In addition to being sold in Texas and Georgia, the products were distributed to institutions, catalog sales and distribution centers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania. The problem was discovered through the establishment’s in-plant testing program. FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product.
