In response to the final version (published November 20) of the new Chemical Security Rule (CFATS) from the Department of Homeland Security, EH&S has arranged for a webcast titled “Compliance Advice for Universities on the New Chemical Security Rule” to be presented this Thursday 11/29/2007 at 11 am at the EH&S training facility, rm 110, Academic Research C, 1620 Standley Drive (map and directions to building).
The two hour webcast is applicable to those having supervisory, management & administrative responsibility for NMSU labs, shops, warehouse and farm areas, but it is also open to all the university community. In view of the 60 day requirement for compliance with this new law, NMSU Colleges, Institutes, and Divisions with these areas need to be informed and hopefully well-represented at the presentation. We will have a sign in sheet and will note the session as safety training.
Background information on the DHS Chemical Security Rule is provided via the following web links:
The webcast is presented by the Campus Safety, Health and
Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA)
and the National Association of College and University Business
Officers (NACUBO).
Further details on the content, topics and presenters are provided
on the EH&S safetynews blog at http://web.nmsu.edu/~ehs/safetynews/?p=289
