ABET Accreditation

The New Mexico State University Surveying Engineering program is ABET accredited under the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC).  The Surveying Engineering program is primarily designed to produce licensed land surveyors.  However, engineering accreditation means that students have more options during their career and may choose to add licensure as an engineer to their licensure as a surveyor with a few added courses.  The move to EAC accreditation came in 2000, primarily at the request of students in the program.

We are proud of our accreditation and will be reviewed again in 2006.  As a part of attaining our 2000 EAC accreditation, we prepared a “self-study” to reflect on the goals and direction of our program.  Listed below are excerpts from that 2000 ABET self-study report.
