Department
of Surveying Engineering Computer Labs and Study Room
The computer labs in the
Department of Surveying Engineering are located in EC 1, Room 132 and in EC 3,
Room 164. Additional computers are available
in the Surveying Student Study Room (EC1, Room 150). You will need to get a “swipe” card from the Department Secretary
(Cindy) to access EC 1, Room 132 and EC 1, Room 150.. There will be a small fee charged for the card. There will be a fee for replacing lost or
stolen cards and the lost or stolen card access code will be removed from the
system. Access to computers in EC3,
Room 164, is by consent of instructor only.
“Swipe” cards will be normally be available only to Surveying
Engineering majors.
Other computers are located
in the Survey Equipment room (EC 1, Room 150A) and the GPS Lab (EC 1, Room
209). These computers are to be used
only to download/upload data from/to survey equipment. Consent of instructor is needed to access
these computers.
Computer accounts are
automatically given to Surveying Engineering majors. The account login will be your NMSU email name and your password
will be your student ID. If you register
late, you may not show up in the system and need to contact one of the faculty
members to arrange for you to get an account.
If you are not a Surveying Engineering student but are taking a
Surveying class, you may apply for a Surveying Engineering computer account. “Swipe” cards for non-Surveying Engineering
students will ONLY be given if cause can be shown that such a card is
necessary.
There is a NO FOOD OR DRINK
policy in the computer labs located in EC 1, Room 132, and EC 3, Room 164. You may eat and drink around any computers
located in the Surveying Student Study Room but please be advised that these
computers will not be replaced if damaged.
There is a NO SMOKING policy for all of the rooms in the building. The first offense for eating or drinking
will be a warning. A second offense
will result in the loss of computer and/or “swipe” card privileges for one
week. A third offense will result in
loss of computer and “swipe” card privileges for the semester.
Any problems with the
computers should be reported immediately to the Department Head.
Access to the Surveying
Student Study Room will also require a “swipe” card. The Study Room abuses, such as smoking, will result in loss of “swipe”
card and Study Room access privileges.
There may be some work at the start of the Fall 2003 semester to improve
the Study Room; please bear with us as we try to make the room more amenable to
studying based on input from students like you.
