Information for Prospective Students of

the Surveying Engineering Program

at New Mexico State University

Thanks for checking us out!!

New students enter the Surveying Engineering program at NMSU either as freshmen with no previous college or university experience or as transfer students from another college or university.  If you are a transfer student considering coming to NMSU, we do have lists of courses from various area colleges and universities that will transfer into the Surveying Engineering program.  If you are attending a college or university that is not on the list, we will be happy to work with you to discover what courses can be transferred.

Would you like to come into the Surveying Engineering program but cannot afford to come now?  Check out the transfer courses and get started on your Surveying Engineering degree at your local college or university.

Out-of-state students

Out of state students have several options.  If you are coming to NMSU from the El Paso/west Texas area and live within 135 miles of the NMSU campus, you will qualify to enter the Surveying Engineering program at in-state tuition rates.  Look for the "Texas Resident Tuition Program" link on the Registrar's webpage link below. If you are a citizen of Colorado, there are a limited number of student admissions at in-state tuition rates. Look for the "New Mexico - Colorado Reciprocal Tuition Agreement" under the link to the Registrar's webpage below. If you are coming from any of the western states, The Surveying Engineering program qualifies under the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) program. Tuition rates for out-of-state students qualifying under Wiche are about 1/2 of rates for other out-of-state students. There is a link to the Wiche site below.

Scholarships

While most scholarships are for students who have established themselves (e.g. have successfully completed at least one semester of the Surveying Engineering program), other scholarships can be found.  The New Mexico Professional Surveyors Educational Foundation Scholarship form is linked below.  Other scholarships are listed under the link below. There are also scholarships available under a variety of other programs. You can find some of these under the link to Financial Aid listed below.

Financial Aid

The NMSU Financial Aid Office arranges student loans and has numerous scholarships available.  There is a link to the Financial Aid office below.
