GRADUATE ASSISTANT PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS

NMSU graduate assistant employees may elect to have a term's tuition and fees deducted from their semi-montly payroll. Terms for graduate assistant payroll are:

  • A payroll deduction authorization form must be completed each semester.
  • Spring and Fall tuition and fees are deducted from seven payrolls for each term. Summer tuition and fees are deducted from two payrolls each term.
  • A $3.50 payment plan fee is assessed monthly
  • Miscellaneous charges (Health Center, library fines, art supplies, etc) cannot be included in payroll deductions.
  • Course registration changes (course add/drops), which require an adjustment to established payroll deduction arrangement for a term must be made in person (for signature purposes) at the University Accounts Receivable Office in the Educational Services building.
  • All financial aid received during a term will be applied to a student's account and override any established payroll deduction arrangements for a term.
  • Cancellation of a payroll deduction for a term is processed through the University Accounts Receivable office in the Educational Services building.
  • Monthly billing statements are sent to students on with payroll deduction arrangements.

Payroll deduction is initiated at NMSU Graduate School office and is processed through the Cashier office after employment has been processed and registration has occurred and prior to a term's payment deadline.
