"It's pretty hard to overestimate his impact" on water resource issues, said former NMSU President Gerald Thomas.

Stucky

Stucky was instrumental in promoting federal legislation, which was introduced by New Mexico Sen. Clinton P. Anderson and Rep. Thomas C. Morris, establishing water resources research centers, Thomas said. New Mexico's WRRI was the first center funded under the Water Resources Research Act.

Stucky was a director of the National Universities Council on Water Research and received a presidential commendation for national contributions.
