New Mexico State University has produced so many amazing graduates and I am proud to serve as the Alumni Association Executive Director. Your alma mater continues to grow and thrive.
A milestone for NMSU this year was moving into the top tier of the U.S. News & World Report Best National Universities rankings. This move into the top tier confirms the universitys place among the top institutions in our nation. This ranking will provide NMSU greater visibility for the work the university does. An important component to these rankings is how engaged graduates are with their alma mater, so thank you for your dedication.
Alumni engagement throughout the year has grown, including 14 new alumni volunteer leaders. We have grown to 31 active chapters and nine interest groups, and increased the social media outreach to more than 2,600 Facebook fans. This years Homecoming celebration had a 30 percent increase in guests visiting our campus. Homecoming also saw a new ceremony in honor of Aggie veterans, a Celebration of Traditions, at Aggie Memorial Tower.
NMSU Alumni support for current students was showcased through the Alumni Association membership campaign. This year a portion of the membership dues support a new scholarship endowment in celebration of New Mexicos Centennial. Also, an Alumni Student Delegates program was implemented in 2012 with 24 student leaders. Watch for good news about this new leadership program in the future.
As you enjoy the following pages, you will read about the progress of many Alumni programs, including the Official NMSU Ring. More than 2,000 Aggies wear the ring with pride and the number grows with each graduating class. In this issue, you will see the new license plate design and learn about career services, including an Alumni professional development webinar series. Finally, all NMSU graduates now have access to a lifetime email account through the Alumni Association. For more information about setting up an email account or any of the Alumni programs, visit alum.nmsu.edu.
