Another year has gone by and it seems like just yesterday I began my role as Executive Director of the Alumni Association!

There have been many chapter events this past year; we hope you have had an opportunity to participate in your local chapter events. You will see photos of the variety of fun activities and events happening in some of the chapters throughout Aggie Whirl. Attending chapter events is a great opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni and meet new friends. If you are not receiving information regarding events in your area, we may not have a current e-mail address on file. Please take a minute to call or e-mail us or log into the online community to provide your current contact information.

We welcome all alumni back this year for a memorable Homecoming week Oct. 26 through Nov. 2. The game and parade will be held Nov. 1. There are many exciting new things to see on campus and we would like for you to share in the excitement. Most of us remember the friendships made and the outstanding education provided to us. As you return to campus and reminisce, we invite you to stop by and see us at the Alumni Center, where we also house the Zuhl Collection. While visiting the Alumni Center please say hello to the new staff – Eva Hernandez ’90, associate director; Dolores Cardoza ’03, alumni coordinator; Reanna Aguilar ’04 ’06, alumni coordinator; and Vicki Morgan, records specialist. The Alumni staff encourages you to become more involved, and let us know what we can do for you.

As a member of the Alumni Association, you have the opportunity to broaden your connections through the university network, share your opinions and potentially influence the future of this university while encouraging current and potential students. Membership supports student programs, promotes NMSU interests at the state and federal levels and helps make many alumni activities possible. Please join us, if you haven’t already.

This year, we have added Young Alumni as a new membership category. The Young Alumni Program is offered to NMSU graduates within the first four years after graduation, applicable for the first degree obtained at NMSU. This is an opportunity to keep young alumni connected with their alma mater.

Feedback is an important means to understand the interests of our alumni worldwide. Please e-mail us with any ideas and feedback. If you would like to be part of university life and be involved with moving this great institution forward, let us hear from you. You may e-mail us at alumni@nmsu.edu.

Also remember, the Online Community is waiting for you! The new community is available free of charge to NMSU Alumni. By logging in to the community, you’ll be able to search for and contact old NMSU friends, stay connected with NMSU, register for alumni events, post your resume, search different job opportunities in your area and much more!

We look forward to seeing you at your next local chapter event and encourage you to bring fellow Aggies to become involved.

Regards,
Ermelinda Quintela ’86 ’88 ’94
