Chapter of the Year
The Nevada Aggie Alumni Chapter was named the 2005 Chapter of the Year at a celebration in April at the Garduño’s Palms in Las Vegas, Nev. More than 20 people were on hand for the celebration and guest presentation by Jack Nixon, the voice of the Aggies.
Golfers support scholarship
More than 56 golfers signed on for the Debbie Widger Scholarship Golf Tournament at the NMSU Golf Course in April. The tournament was named for former alumni executive director Debbie Widger ’81 ’93, who now serves as a planned gifts officer for the university.

About 175 alumni, students and guests of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity gathered in March for a reunion to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the fraternity’s founding and the 65th birthday of the NMSU chapter. Vincent Boudreau ’54, Frank Williams and David Travis ’58 were honored for their many years of service and contributions to the fraternity. The program for the evening was remembering six decades of the SAE fraternity on the NMSU campus. Speakers for the decades were Jim Meadows ’48, Darrell Wall ’54, Vernon Wade ’60, Dale Brown ’75, Gary Young ’76, Troy Drawz ’89, Scott Uttley ’91 and Barry Trujillo ’02.
Denver Aggies turn out for Crush Football
More than 27 Aggies in the Denver area turned out for an Arena Football League game between the Colorado Crush and the Columbus Destroyers in March. The festivities included a pre-game party for Aggies at the Pepsi Center.

Many Aggies turned out to honor their fellow New Mexicans at the 36th Annual Governor’s New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Awards banquet. NMSU President Michael Martin gave the keynote address and NMSU College of Business Dean and former Gov. Garrey Carruthers served as MC with former Gov. Toney Anaya. Several of those honored have ties to NMSU including business owners Emma Jean Cervantes and Sammy Chioda ’76, Provost William Flores and Professor David Townsend.
Central New Mexico Chapter developing
The Central New Mexico Aggie Alumni Chapter (formerly known as the Albuquerque Chapter) is now one step closer to becoming a reality as officers were elected at its November 2005 meeting. Chapter officers include Robert Andrews ’60, president; Kimberly Archuleta ’96 ’02, vice president; Donna Bader ’84, secretary; and Rhawnie Milliorn ’01, treasurer. A 14-member board of directors also was elected.
