Michael Martin
New Mexico State University President Michael Martin was honored in April with a 2006 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is presented to Minnesota State Mankato graduates who have achieved high rank or honor in their professions, have a widespread effect on their communities, and are recognized for their career achievements.

Before coming to NMSU, Martin served for six years as vice president for agriculture and natural resources at the University of Florida.

Prior to embarking on his distinguished academic career, he received his bachelor’s in business administration in 1969 and his master’s in economics in 1971 from MSU, Mankato. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
