| Taking the campaign to new heights |
A comprehensive campaign is many things. The major component that guarantees its success is the people who step up to the plate and make gifts. These individuals represent the hundreds of old and new friends of New Mexico State University who have participated to date.
In October 2005 the university kicked off the public phase of its five-year $150 million comprehensive campaign. At that time more than $40 million had been committed in gifts and pledges. By the end of December, that total had risen to nearly $48 million.
An in-kind contribution from General Motors and their PACE partners to support programs in the College of Engineering combined with other gifts received in the spring quarter raised the total to nearly $139 million.
However, a campaign is about more than its dollar goal. Many of the major priorities (new scholarships, professorships and chairs and funding to build the performing arts center and renovate O’Donnell Hall) still need to be fulfilled. There are many opportunities for the university’s alumni and friends to make a major difference in the future of New Mexico State.
