Rich Beem became an instant celebrity by winning one of golf's four majors, the PGA Championship in 2002, but he's not alone.

Bart Bryant has been the feel-good story of men's golf in 2005. After two surgeries and several trips back to qualifying school just to remain on tour, he finished in the top 10 on the PGA Tour in earnings and has won three tournaments this year.

Bryant was about to lose his tour card last fall when he won his first-ever tournament, the Texas Valero Open. In June he drained a 15-foot putt to win the Memorial; then in November he blew away the field with a course record to win the Tour Championships.

Tom Byrum turned professional in 1984. This year his best finish on tour is a 17th at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic. He ranks 18th in driving accuracy percentage.

Beem has three tour victories to his credit this year.

Aggie women golfers also are well represented in the professional ranks. A.J. Eathorne has earned a pair of top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour this year. Gwlady Nocera is one of the top professional players on the Ladies European Tour.
