| Aggies Keep in Touch Through E-mail |

New Mexico State University alumni are keeping in touch with the university through e-mail and an interactive newsletter.
Alumni now receive one newsletter per month via e-mail from the Office of Advancement, which includes information about news and upcoming events.
"This newsletter helps keep alumni informed on what NMSU is doing," says Monica Martinez, associate director of alumni relations.
Ann Palormo, a writer in the NMSU Office of Advancement, says the response to the publication has been positive. Currently, the newsletter reaches 16,514 alumni across the country.
"The university wants to keep alumni informed. The more contact that is made, the more connected people feel with what this university is doing," Palormo said.
Palormo said the newsletter is quick and easy to read and links readers back to the main Web site to encourage them to keep up-to-date with NMSU.
Athletics also sends out e-newsletters to those who subscribe about upcoming sports events, results and player information. Subscribers can choose which sports they would like to receive information about and will receive specific stories related to those sports in their e-mail. Since July 2004, the College of Engineering has offered a newsletter to its alumni concentrating on research and current events. Christina Brumm, Web developer for the College of Engineering, said many departments other than engineering have begun to develop e-newsletters for their own uses, as well.
University Communications also distributes daily news on a list serve called Hotline. Anyone can sign up to receive information from Hotline. To sign up visit the NMSU Web site at http://www.nmsu.edu/news.html.
