Santa Fe alumni have had plenty on their calendar during 2005. On March 31, Aggies on the Hill Chapter President Tim Martinez '82 and Vice President Ed Vigil '81 kicked off a series of events at a networking luncheon held at Southside Café. Santa Fe Aggies continued this luncheon series in May with Regent Robert Gallagher '77 and in July with football coach Hal Mumme.
Santa Fe also held its first Happy Hour Event at Red Lobster on April 29.
NMSU alumni Bob and Barbara Skaggs '58 played host on May 16 to students from Pojoaque High School who had been admitted to NMSU for Fall '05.
On Aug. 13, Aggies from across the state traveled to Santa Fe for the Second Annual Opera Event, which once again sold out!
Aggies on the Hill Going Strong

Aggies on the Hill held a "Student Welcome Back BBQ" on June 8. The event sponsored by Abba Technologies, Land America Capital City Title and Española Abstract (all owned and operated by NMSU alumni) gave NMSU students interning at the labs for the summer an opportunity to meet NMSU alumni and forge new friendships.
They also held a luncheon in Los Alamos July 21 with coach Mumme. NMSU students interning at the labs for the summer were treated at this luncheon by Andrew Baca '84 of Abba Technologies.
On Aug. 27, more than 120 Aggies (and future Aggies) gathered in Alcalde at NMSU's Sustainable Science Center for a successful Family Fest featuring great food and entertainment.

Albuquerque Aggies Work and Play

Aggies from the Albuquerque area shared stories from their days at NMSU during the April 8 Networking Luncheon lead by special guest speaker Ellen Dowling '71 '73, president of Dowling and Associates Inc. and author of The Standup Trainer.
Aggies met with coaches Reggie Theus and Hal Mumme on May 24 to celebrate the university's new partnership with 106.3 KAGM and on June 10 Mumme shared his plans for the 2005 football season.
On July 30, Pistol Pete threw out the ceremonial first pitch during the Isotopes home game. Kids of all ages loved having Pistol Pete at the ball park and more than 130 Aggies joined the fun.
Sept. 17 was a great day for a tailgate at the Aggies vs. Lobos game. Aggies were well represented among the 45,000 fans and more than 180 tailgaters attended NMSU's Alumni Association sponsored event complete with great barbecue and beer donated by Nestor Romero '86. The Aggie Cheerleaders popped in to lead the group that included President Martin, former news reporter Conroy Chino, former Aggie football player Danny Villanueva and Provost Bill Flores in a cheer for the Aggies.
Las Vegas, Nev., Chapter Beats the Heat
Las Vegas alumni held their second event of 2005 April 16 at Theron Goynes Park in North Las Vegas. Led by Yvonne Morris '88 the group of Aggies beat the heat with great refreshments and hamburgers and hot dogs provided by former Aggies Butch and Michelle Benda, who own several Sonic Drive-Ins in Las Vegas. President and Mrs. Michael Martin, Vice President for University Advancement Rebecca Dukes and Associate Director for Alumni Relations Monica Martinez joined in the festivities.
Farmington Alumni Gather

Alumni from Farmington gathered at the Holiday Inn on June 16 for the first time in a few years. The group came out to meet coach Hal Mumme who shared his plans for the 2005 football season. Golfing in the Texas Sun
The Dallas and Fort Worth chapters, not intimidated by the sultry Texas summer, got together for the Second Annual DFW Aggie Alumni Golf Tournament on July 9 at the Woodbridge Golf Club in Wylie, Texas. Professional Golf Program graduate Paul Kenney '94, the general manager at Woodbridge, hosted a great tournament with eight teams in a scramble format vying for golf merchandise prizes and Aggie promotional gear. Vince Jewell '92 and Ernest Wagley '87 led the winning team.
