New Mexico State Universitys Athletics Department saw a winner in Paul Brilliant, coach of the womens golf team from 1982 to 1992. They continue to see a winner in him today Brilliant has returned to the post to replace Joann Cox, who retired as head coach of the womens golf team in June 2006.
At the time of his first appointment to the program, Brilliant was responsible for building it into one of the most distinguished collegiate programs in the country.
Paul had a lot of success in his time as head coach and the chance to bring that type of success back to the program was a great opportunity for us as a department, says McKinley Boston, NMSU athletics director.
Brilliant has big plans for the team.
What we want to do is get the womens program back to winning conference championships, Brilliant says. And continue to build a name for ourselves as one of the premier programs in the country.
