NMSU rises in the rankings

New Mexico State University has been honored by national publications for being one of the best in the U.S.

Diverse: Issues in Higher Education ranked the university 61st out of more than 1,700 four-year institutions in awarding the most undergraduate degrees to students of color. Broken down by ethnic group, NMSU ranked 14th in degrees to Hispanics and 16th for American Indians. In graduate degrees, NMSU was 99th in total minorities, 22nd in Hispanics and 26th in American Indians.

Washington Monthly, a monthly magazine of U.S. politics and government based in Washington, D.C., ranked NMSU 44th out of 245 colleges and universities in its second annual rankings. The rankings were based on criteria which determined how well colleges and universities serve the public interest by fostering research, an ethic of national service and social mobility.

“It’s an honor for New Mexico State to be recognized for the dedication we have as one university for student success. As you can see, this ranking measures how well we do in our mission as a land-grant university,” said NMSU President Michael Martin. “This, in addition to our high marks from other prestigious publications, is more proof of the quality of education we provide our students.”
