The New Mexico State University museum at Kent Hall will be closed Oct. 13 through Nov. 12 to prepare for its new exhibit of Southwestern and Central American pottery, "On Collecting Pottery: The Horace and Patricia Poeter Collection."
The museum will open the exhibit for a sneak preview during NMSU's Homecoming weekend, Oct. 29-31.
The museum also will offer a public lecture on "Ancient Maya Political Power," presented by NMSU sociology and anthropology assistant professor Lisa Lucero, at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 12.
The museum will again resume its normal operating hours when it opens the Poeter Collection on Friday, Nov. 13. The museum will be open from 12-4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
Jon Hunner, director of NMSU's Public History Program, also will host an oral history workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 14 to train local residents on conducting oral histories.
The museum will host a reception at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 for Patricia Poeter in the exhibit halls where the Poeter Collection is being shown.
