“Female Trouble” is a humorous three-girls-and-a-guy morality play, and is the title story of a collection of 13 or 14 short stories Nelson plans to have out in April.

“You could say the story is sort of about how men are less developed than women,” Nelson said.

Nelson said “Female Trouble” was the most inclusive title for her collection because “my stories are almost always about female trouble of some sort.”

The O. Henry Awards were instituted in 1918, as a tribute to the writer O. Henry, who died in 1910.  Sixteen stories are included in this year’s anthology.
