Joining Barquet will be Rosario Sanmiguel, who will do readings from her book of short stories, "Callejón Sucre y Otros Relatos," now in its second edition. Sanmiguel is a writer from Juarez, Mexico.
Cuban-born Barquet is a professor in the graduate school at New Mexico State University, where he teaches Hispanic literature. "Sin Fecha de Extinctión" is his fifth book of poetry. Barquet also has written three books of literary criticism. His work has appeared in anthologies and publications in Europe and Latin America.
The writers will be presented by Francisco Plata, a graduate student in the Spanish Master of Arts program at NMSU. A part of NMSU's Fall 2004 Speaker Series, the event is supported by the center as well as the NMSU Bookstore. Food and coffee will be served. Nason House, the former president's house, is on University Avenue on the NMSU campus directly across from Kinko's.
