Women’s History Month is set aside each year to celebrate the achievements of women in history, says Diane-Michele Prindeville, New Mexico State University director of Women’s Studies.

::20.2 sec Soundbite “It's important to recognize that women play a key role in our society and culture. Certainly women pass on traditions, cultural beliefs and are responsible, for the most part, for educating the young and socializing them into our society.”

Prindeville says historically, women have not been recognized enough for their contributions. The month gives students and community members the opportunity to attend events and speakers who will discuss issues facing women today.
