Gleason, Byrnes honored by ACE
Jeanne Gleason and Matt Byrnes of New Mexico State University's Media Productions have been recognized by the Association for Communications Excellence in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Life and Human Science (ACE).
Gleason, professor and director of Media Productions, who has been with the department for 34 years, was selected as the recipient of the Leadership and Management Special Interest Group (SIG) Award of Excellence. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in the SIG area as well as leadership and involvement in ACE.
The national award is given annually and recognized Gleason for the advancement of a strong communication program and management at NMSU and her program developments and trainings in Iraq, Afghanistan and China in the field of agricultural communications.

Byrnes, a senior multimedia designer for Media Productions won the 2009 ACE Western Region Pioneer Award that recognized him for his early career professionalism, leadership and technical skill within Media Productions. The award honors communicators in each region who demonstrate exceptional leadership and technical skills and make significant contributions to ACE within the first 10 years of ACE membership.
Byrnes has been with the university for eight years, in that time he has been active in the ACE organization holding previous positions as ACE state representative for New Mexico, and vice chair of the International SIG, as well as serving on the program committee for the ACE conference that was held in Albuquerque in 2007. He is currently chair of the International SIG.
ACE is a professional organization for communicators to develop professional skills to extend knowledge about agriculture, natural resources and life and human sciences to people worldwide. ACE also enables its members to network with more specialized peer groups from around the world through 14 special interest groups that provide a community of common interests and expertise, sharpen their skills and grow professionally.
