NMSU launches AggieFit program to promote wellness on campus
To promote the wellness of mind, body and spirit at New Mexico State University, the AggieFit program invites the faculty and staff to begin registering for membership as the program starts July 1.
AggieFit is a fitness program available to all NMSU staff, faculty, students, affiliates and retirees, as well as their spouses and children. Members pay a yearly fee, which can be paid by cash, check, credit card or deducted from their paychecks throughout the year.Membership for full-time students is included in their health/activity student fees.
"Healthier employees are more productive, more fulfilled in their jobs, and miss fewer work days because of illness," said Lori McKee, director of Health and Wellness. "We are confident AggieFit will bring students, faculty and staff together as healthy activities build healthy communities."
Including access to the Athletic Center, the Natatorium, group fitness and intramural sports, members of AggieFit will receive discount admission to special programs and health screenings, services supported by professional staff at the Activity Center, a 10 percent discount on purchases in the AC Rec Sports Store, swim classes and AC summer camps.
Members also will have access to AggieFit.org, a Web site with exercise tracking and a personal well-kit.
AggieFit is a part of NMSU's Wellness Program, an initiative started by the Health and Wellness Committee to promote the wellness of body, mind and spirit, and to tangibly support a culture in which all community members understand, value and make healthy lifestyle choices.
