Event aimed at continuing coordination across campuses
New Mexico State University's Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost will host "Five Campuses One Vision: Successful Pathways to Higher Education" April 24 at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.
Student speakers, perspectives from experienced educators, World Café style dialogue, a student panel and best practices/model programs are planned. This event is a continuation of the conversation that was started in the fall when Dona Ana Community College hosted the annual meeting of the NMSU community colleges.

"Ultimately the economy of the state will depend on the ability of higher education to produce more two-year and four-year degree holders. Therefore, bringing the Las Cruces campus and the four community colleges closer together to assist in academic and workforce preparation as well as the transition of students between these entities requires extensive communication," said Ramon Dominguez, interim associate provost.
The event will involve general discussions about course equivalencies, academic standards, faculty perspectives and basic understanding of the role of the Las Cruces campus and community colleges in enhancing the education and workforce skills of students.
Dominguez said it is important to continue these efforts to expand the number and quality of working relationships between the campuses. He said it also fosters open and frank discussions of issues and challenges faced by all of the campuses by engaging in conversations that assist in maximizing the efficiency with which students transition to the four-year campus and identifies and models current best practices.
The event is free and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Only 275 participants can be accommodated, so please register in advance. Registration is available at http://dacc.nmsu.edu/bis/roundup/.
