Item 1.Approval of minutes

Minutes of the University Research Council Meeting held on October 27, 1995 were approved.

Item 2.Overview of University research efforts

Dr. Kathleen Brook, Assistant Dean of the Center for Business Research and Services, provided an overview of the College of Business Administration and Economics. Dr. Brook's presentation also included information about the College's research efforts, economic development, and continuing education.

Unproductive and Duplicative Efforts Among University Departments in Seeking Research Funding

Dr. Combs reported to the Chair via telephone that the Sub-committee would have a report early in the Spring semester.

Conflict of Interest

Nellie Quezada-Aragon reported the Disclosure Statement is being reviewed and the Conflict of Interest policy will soon be in place.

a. The URC is now on-line. Dr. Ronnau thanked Dr. Wolf, Director of Computing and Networking, for his efforts to create a HomePage on the Internet for the URC Minutes and Agendas. By consensus, members of the Committee directed the Chair to continue distributing hard copies of URC agendas and minutes.

b. Nellie Quezada-Aragon, Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs, reported that the University must soon be in compliance with revised Federal Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). The impact of these standards will be significant for all levels of the University. The University Administrative Counsel will approve the CAS Guidelines by April 1996 and they will be in-place by July 1, 1996.
