Relationships
How old do you think we should be to have sex?
There is no right age to have sex. Sex is something that, ideally, could be engaged between any two people who have analyzed all the risks, consequences, and relational aspects that are often intrinsic with sexuality.
If you're not ready to have sex and need more time to mature, grow, and understand the importance of sex than you don't have to. If sex does not seem appropriate just say NO, it is your right.
How do you know when your partner is ready?
Verbal consent is the only appropriate answer. Here is small review of what exactly constitutes as consent :
- Consent is a "Yes" in response to requests for sexual acts.
- Silence is not necessarily consent.
- "No" is not consent.
- In New Mexico, consent cannot be given by someone who is not of sound mind and body. Someone who is drunk, high, unconscious or mentally incompetent may not be able to give consent to a sexual act.
