20 years as a journalist writing and editing for Gannett News Service, El Paso Times, Fort Collins Coloradoan, Tucson Citizen, USATODAY
Publications: As a practicing journalist, I have published in hundreds of newspapers across the country. I continue to publish in El Paso, Inc., El Paso Magazine, and the El Paso Times. My writing has covered topics ranging from U.S.-Mexico relations and immigration to national politics and political campaigns. I have also covered the femicides in Juarez and the statehouse in Denver. I wrote a weekly column between 1993 and 2004.
Prof. Benanti participated in Shine On in April 2011, a multi-media event produced by Mark Medoff and the Creative Media Institute. The event celebrates NMSU faculty members.
