The NMSU  Public Utility Regulation and Economics (PURE) graduate certificate program offers you advanced technical instruction on the utility sector. In just one year, you’ll become well prepared for complex analysis and rigorous applications of utility policy. Study the legal justifications for regulating the electric industry, as well as the functions of regulatory commission and the history of the industry. Apply the same kind of economic analysis to the natural gas and water industry, considering revenue requirements, cost allocation, and retail design rate.

This flexible, affordable certificate program also gives you the opportunity to get a head start on your graduate study. PURE certificate courses will transfer into the Master of Arts in Economics program at NMSU, satisfying up to 12 of the 30 credits required for the master’s degree.

One-Year Program

In just one year, you get equipped with essential knowledge of the utility sector

The Public Utility Regulation and Economics Graduate Certificate program consists of 12 credits. To enter the program, you must meet the general regulations and minimum requirements for admission to the graduate school, including a bachelor’s degree in any subject and a 3.0 GPA.
 
The program offers Fall, Spring, and Summer start dates, but if you don’t have a strong foundation in economics, we recommend you start in Fall so you can complete your prerequisites.
