From From Algorithms to Applications — Master Computer Science at NMSU

At NMSU’s Department of Computer Science, the M.S. in Computer Science offers an advanced and flexible pathway to deepen your computing expertise. With options for either a thesis/project track or a coursework‐only track, you’ll engage in areas such as algorithms, systems, data science, machine learning, and cybersecurity. The 33-credit program can be completed in just four semesters with full‐time enrollment, giving you the technical foundation and research preparation to thrive in industry or continue to doctoral study.

We’re removing barriers to graduate education, which is why we don’t require the GRE.

The Master of Science in Computer Science can be obtained through either a thesis option or a non-thesis option.

  • Thesis option: The department requires a minimum of 12 core class credits and additional 15 computer science graduate course credits. Thesis-option students must also complete a thesis or undertake a research project and complete a final exam.

  • Non-thesis option: The department requires a minimum of 12 core class credits and additional 24 Computer Science graduate course credits.
