At NMSU’s Department of Economics, Applied Statistics and International Business, the MS in Applied Statistics equips you with rigorous instruction in both statistical theory and real-world application. You will gain hands-on experience in experimental design, modeling, and analysis using modern statistical software as you prepare to enter industry, government, or consulting roles. The program offers thesis or coursework-only tracks and emphasizes consulting skills and data-driven problem solving across diverse disciplines such as biology, engineering, psychology, education, and natural sciences.

Students complete a total of 34 course credits choose one of two options to complete the course requirements: the thesis
option or the coursework-only option. Under the thesis option, the combined research (A ST 598 or A ST 599) and elective credits must equal 6.
